Why the native install is disabled
- The
reiwa-chat.ipa on the server is a placeholder: no app binary,
embedded.mobileprovision, or code signature, so iOS would refuse it.
- Publisher: sign in to Xcode with the paid Developer Program account, register testers from
mobile/ios/devices.txt, then run TEAM_ID=… ./mobile/ios/export-adhoc.sh and deploy.
Open this page in Safari on the target iPhone. OTA install uses Apple’s
itms-services:// scheme and only works in iOS Safari.
How OTA works
- manifest.plist — XML on this server with bundle id, version, title, and the HTTPS URL of the
.ipa.
- itms-services link — Safari opens
itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=….
- iOS reads the manifest and starts the system installer.
- Download & verify — iOS fetches the
.ipa, checks the provisioning profile (Ad Hoc UDID or Enterprise cert), then places the app on the Home Screen.
App Store and Development exports will fail verification. Export Release Testing (Ad Hoc) or Enterprise only.
